Wiki Description

[edit] General Description

This Project will expand the existing waste water reclamation project with a new main pipe to provide reclaimed water service to the UT campus area for use in watering lawns, chilling plants, and other non-potatable water uses.

[edit] Points in Favor

Currently almost all water the water used for non-potable purposes is drinking water, using this grey water instead will reduce demand for new water sources, preserve important natural aquifer fed natural resources (Barton Springs) and lower the rate of increase in the cost of water over the long term.

[edit] Points Against

Watermain construction will impact traffic congestion temporarily.

Potential contamination of drinking supply by inapproriate cross connections (though none have occured in the 15 years of the existing project).
