[edit] Points in Favor

This project has to be done. This work is different from the one that has been done west of Westnedge, from 9th Street to Oakland Drive(2007-09). This is a continuation of the widening from the one that has been done. The current state of I-94 from Oakland Dr. to Portage Rd. can't handle the overgrowing and increasing traffic; meaning its constant traffic backups, especially at the Westnedge interchange, at rush hour and weekends. Its a pain now for drivers who are trying to turn left onto westbound 94 from northbound Westnedge. This project will include converting the Westnedge Ave/94 interchange to a full interchange, similiar to the M-6/US 131 interchange south of Grand Rapids(but that could change). After this widening project is done in 2011, it will improve traffic flow dramatically, especially at the Westnedge interchange. To sum it up, this NEEDS TO BE DONE!!

[edit] Points Against

This section of road was torn up and completely rebuilt through 2006-7. No jobs will be created by this spending, the only thing that might happen is a shoring up of Michigan's tax revenues.
