[edit] Points in Favor

The area is currently experiencing high growth rates causing increased congestion. With the road becoming limited access north and south of the signal this signal needs to be converted into an interchange. Already rush hour traffic backs up to I-465 to the South and 98th Street and 106th Street to the North. Even if this interchange were to be slightly confusing the decreases in commute time created by a free flow of traffic compensate for this confusion. Also when US-31 undergoes construction starting in 2011 another 4 lanes of traffic will be pushed onto this 4 lane parkway. In 2011 without an interchange backups will certainly extend 2 or 3 miles to at least 116th Street and even Carmel Drive.

[edit] Points Against

Interchanges take more space than signalized intersections and are confusing to drivers. Want to hear what people's opinions are who deal with them every day? Ask anyone in Massachusetts.
