Home page for the North Corridor Rail Line
The proposed North Corridor Commuter Rail Project will operate along 30 miles of the existing Norfolk Southern rail line (the "O" line) from Center City Charlotte to Mooresville in southern Iredell County. The alignment parallels Graham Street in the south and Old Statesville Road (NC-115) in the north.
[edit] Points in Favor
The current line is averaging over 16,000 trips a day during the week. That’s nearly double the original projection.
Charlotte light rail almost hits rider levels that were only expected in 2025
The rail line will help tie the region together and bring additional revenue to Charlotte.
Charlotte highway and interstate traffic is dangerous and highly congested.
The rail line is at least "greener" than the cars it replaces on the freeway.
The rail line brings 9038 jobs to the area
We need to get this one done so we can shift focus to the Eastern and Western Corridors. We could all use the work, and less cars on the roads mean cleaner air, too.
