[edit] General Description

Project Description:

The draft design study report recommends constructing a new 24-inch Hillside Water Transmission Main (WTM) along Elmore Road from Abbott Road to the existing water booster station located on 136th Avenue, south of the South Anchorage High School. Preliminary design for the new water transmission main is scheduled for early 2009, with construction beginning in Summer 2009.

[edit] Points in Favor

[edit] Points Against

The Hillside neighborhood avoids property taxes by opting out of most road maintenance, police coverage, and other services from the Municipality of Anchorage. Most residences in Hillside are on well water and septic systems. Most residents also have a higher average household income than most other places in the city. This project is not critical.
