They are going to spend 16 MILLION on a business center at the airport. First, I'm not sure how that is supposed to "stimulate" the economy. Can't business travelers use the facilities at their hotels or offices? Second, how much could it truly cost to build a 10 x 10 room with a computer, fax machine, phone and a table? I think it could be done for $20,000 (although even that would be a waste of taxpayer money). Third, Lake Havasu is a tourist destination most famous as a spring break hot spot for college students. Does the government really believe that 10,000 drunken college students will pick Havasu as their beer binge location of choice because the airport has a business center? Which major convention center are all the "business travelers" going to meet at? None! It doesn't exist! Nor should it. This is a town of 50-60 thousand people. Let's be realistic. Is Lake Havasu really going to compete with Las Vegas for convention business when Vegas is only two hours away? More tax dollars wasted.
